Service Project in Ecuador

As many of you know, I was "on vacation" last week. Actually, I was in Quito Ecuador with my 17 year old daughter working on a service project. It was a great experience for both of us. We painted murals to help beautify a school for indigenous children whose mothers work in the nearby outdoor market. This facility works to keep these kids off the streets and all the children were really sweet. I am not an artist, but my daughter is very creative and so this project was perfect for her. My job was to paint within the lines she drew. I posted some before and after pictures of our work at the bottom of the the blog.

It looks like summer might finally be here, and so just a few reminders about facial sun protection. The sun is the #1 cause of wrinkles (and skin cancer too - but this is a cosmetic blog after all), and while Botox can help, prevention should always come first. Put sunscreen on every day no matter what (sun comes through your car window). Use at least 30 spf. Make sure you are protected against UVA and UVB. Wear a hat. And reapply if you are going to be outside for more than a few hours.

Our office has once again been selected to represent Utah in the One World Sight Project's National Botoxathon. On Friday May 14th, participating doctor's from around the country and Allergan will donate proceeds from Botox injections that day to the Eyes of Africa Initiative of the One World Sight Project. This organization uses that money to pay for vision-restoring cataract surgery in Africa. Space is limited that day but there are still appointments available.

Good News! At least for now, the Cosmetic Tax proposed by Congress to help pay for Health Care reform is no longer under consideration. Thanks to everyone who signed the petition! Looks like they might tax tanning salons instead.

Holiday Schedule at The Spa

Just so you can plan your procedures accordingly, we want to make everyone aware of our Christmas-New Year's schedule this year. We will be closed on Dec 24th and 25th. We will close at 3:00pm on the 31st and will be closed on Jan 1st. Dr. Jepson will not be in the office the week after Christmas - so if you have Holiday procedure plans, be sure to get them done by December 23rd (we will be open until 5pm that day). The office will be open the final week of December if you need to restock on skin care products, schedule a January appointment, or see Ryann for an esthetic treatment.

Fall Botox Rebate Program coming to an End

Just a reminder that the Botox "Express Success" Rebate ends on December 31st. Spend $200 or more on Botox and get $50 back from Allergan. This is a different rebate program than the summer Botox Anniversary rebate from Allergan. If you participated in the summer program, you are still eligible for the fall program! So if you haven't had your Botox this fall, don't miss out on this savings opportunity.

I am sure that most of you have heard that Congress is considering taxing cosmetic procedures including Botox injections as way to help pay for Health Reform (referred to in the media the last few weeks as the Botax.)
